June - using a Punch

Hello crafting friends,

Normally at this time every month, I'm taking part in a blog hop, but somehow there was a glitch with the list and a few of us found our links were gone. I'll share what I'd done anyway.

The blog hop is all about using a punch in your design. I knew straight away which punch I wanted to use, and that led me to the layout and photos I wanted to use. My favourite flowers are daisies so when Stampin Up brought out their daisy punches I had to have them! I've also used some recently retired 12x12 papers for my design.

The punches come in two sizes, which you can see in photos below.

My garden has become a bit of a haven for me this past few months. I've never been a gardener which used to frustrate my dad who always said a garden should produce some sort of food as well as flowers. Mine did neither until this year, we just had a couple of small trees and the rest of the space was grass (and weeds). However, since losing my dad to cancer back in April, I've found it comforting to spend time in the garden. I feel closer to my dad in a way, I am now growing both flowers and food! I know my dad would be pleased, and of course, some of the flowers look like daisies 😁

I got so carried away using my punches, I had enough daisies to create a double page spread! I've left room to add a couple more photos of the fruit/vegetables as they ripen.

Hopefully next month I'll be back with my fellow Ink & Share hoppers.

Bye for now and happy crafting

Ink & Share Scrapbook Blog Hop - May Sketch

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to another blog hop. Have you just hopped in from Sue? or have you started with me? However you got here, please do hop round and visit all the lovely people taking part this month, I know you'll get lots of inspiration from everyone

This month its a sketch challenge. I love these, it's so easy when you're bit short of time but still would like to put a layout together like I have this month. They're also great when you get crafters block.

I have a bunch of photos in a big envelope that I go through every month to choose which ones to use. These are favourites that I have had printed (some time ago!). I took out the flowers from the sketch and added a heart using the scallop heart punch and drew on a stitched edge effect using a white gel pen. I kept the butterflies and punched them using primary colours. I then created some tags also using the primary colours - the blue one with the ribbon will have journaling on it. That too has the stitching effect. Finally I added a line of blue "stitching" to one layer of the paper across the bottom of the layout.

This is one of my grandsons. He has the biggest bluest eyes I've ever seen and has very blonde hair.  I've blanked out his face so I can share the layout here. I love that close up photo showing how blue his eyes are

Now, you have seen my entry this month, please do click on the link below to go see how Heike and everyone else has interpreted this months challenge.

In & Share Scrapbook Blog Hop - M is for MOON

Hello fellow crafters

Here we are with another Ink & Share Scrapbook blog hop. Its time for a group of us from various parts of the world to get together again to share ideas for beautiful scrapbook layouts. Whether you've dropped in from Sandra or come straight here into my blog post I bid you welcome and hope we can all tempt you to create a page yourself.

This month we have the letter M to work around. I started thinking about this just before Mothers Day, but that would have been too obvious. After some thought .... and a memory jogger from the Timehop app on my phone .... I decided on ....

M is for MOON

My dad has always had an interest in Astronomy ever since in his younger days when he was in the Merchant Navy. One night his ship was in the middle of the ocean, he was on watch and saw a meteor burn across the sky and disappear below the horizon. That triggered a lifelong fascination with the sky at night. When I was a child he would often take me out to the back garden to show me the stars and told me their names. In more recent years dad suggested we get a telescope and the first thing we looked at was the moon!

This has brought back some fun memories of stargazing with not only my dad, but my children too, which is what scrapbooking is all about. a memory of times spent with family and friends. Please do now go onto Dorothea by clicking the Next button.

Happy crafting,
Karen xx

Bunny Boxes

 Hello crafters,

Today I've made some pretty packaging for some chocolate bunnies I bought for my grandchildren. As a crafter I can't just leave them as I bought them now can I! These are the chocolate bars ....

 .... and here's how I packaged them

My older granddaughter loves purple so it was a no brainer to make her a box that matched the Cadbury purple. I actually have five grandchildren, but my oldest grandson has a little brother (from another relationship) so I couldn't really leave him out.

I have lots of Easter goodies here for adults and children, so going to be busy making lots of pretty packaging for everyone. Watch this space!

In the meantime, I have created a video (below) showing how I made the boxes.

Inch measurements:
Card measuring 7 x 6¼
Scrap of card for stamping

Ink & Share blog hop - February 2021

Hello crafters and welcome to another Ink & Share Scrapbook blog hop. February is the month of love and again a group of us from various parts of the world are getting together to share ideas for beautiful scrapbook layouts - this time of course its a Love theme. Whether you've dropped in from Jo or come straight here into my blog post I bid you welcome and hope we can all tempt you to create a page yourself.

My initial idea was to create a page featuring my lovely husband, but in the end I decided to just go with the first photo in my very large mountain of photos that would fit the bill and see what happened. As it turned out my husband does feature 💕 ... along with our delightful little granddaughter, who at the time was two years old (she's a very grown up six now). At this time, she was all about the "Big Squidgey's"..... really lovely tight hugs and we are both looking forward to the day we can go collect a few of those after a year bereft of them.

I based my layout on a design I found on Pinterest. To create mine I used a 12x12 sheet of an old pink colour I had left in my stash, then used Real Red and Misty Moonlight card and ink to create the layers. The stamped images came from the Heartfelt stamp set. The strips of paper beside the photo came from lefts overs in my pack of From My Heart designer papers (if the image looks a bit crooked, its because the pink sheet had been half laying down so has a curve to it, very annoying!). When I showed my husband this layout, it brought back some very happy memories and that's what scrapbooking is all about 😊

Please do now click on The NEXT button to visit Rebecca-Jo's page and then have a look at everyone else's creations around the hop, I know you'll be inspired.

Happy crafting
Karen

Ink & Share Scrapbook Blog Hop - January - Free Choice

Hello fellow crafters!

Welcome to another Ink & Share Scrapbook Blog Hop. The title for January is Free Choice so there's going to be lots of different themes to our pages this month. We are a group of like minded crafters who love to create scrapbook pages and we're all from various countries, so whether you have just hopped in from Sandra or started with me, you're in for a treat and lots of inspiration so please do pop round the other blogs in this hop!

Like many people this time last year, I had big plans as we entered a new decade. I was going to blog more and be more organised in my craft space. Well that didn't happen thanks to a certain worldwide occurrence, so let's start again and see where this year takes us.

Have you ever started out with a plan in your head and by the time its been put onto paper, its completely different? Well, that's what happened to me. My plan was to create page of my lovely grandchildren who I have hardly seen over the past year and miss so much. I'd written up this blog post and everything, but as you can see I actually ended up with ......

Christmas jumpers!

OK, maybe a little late for Christmas 2020, but personally I found my sons jumper hilarious, although maybe a little disturbing too, so wanted to showcase it. What do you think?

My daughter-in-laws jumper, much less violent 😉

So, now you've seen  my page, please do follow the link below to check out all the other fab pages, over to you Cindy...

Have a lovely crafty day
